Over 80% of the water in Lake Turkana comes from the Omo River which drains from the Ethiopian Plateau to the north. Turkwel and Kerio rivers only contribute ephemerally to the lake. Water in Lake Turkana is well mixed and has a temperature of 25-26 deg C.
