Mt Etna volcano, Italy
Eruptions began at Mt Etna volcano, Sicily on 28th December 2014. Lava fountaining was preceded by an increase in seismicity. Ashfall was report at nearby villages. Aviation colour code was raised to RED.

Lopevi volcano, Vanuatu
Eruptions were reported at Lopevi volcano on 15th December 2014. Lopevi Island was declared an exclusion zone. No hotspot was visible on satellite images. The alert status of the volcano was raised to level 1.

Gamalama Volcano, Indonesia
An eruption of Gamalama volcano began on 19th December 2014. Ash emissions reached an altitude of 8000 ft and extended 25 nautical miles north. Eleven hikers were on the volcano when the eruption began, three were injured. Ternate airport was temporarily closed.

Kilauea volcano, Hawaii
Lava from Kilauea volcano continues to flow towards Pāhoa, Hawaii. The flow front has temporarily stalled, but breakouts and inflation are occurring 160 m upslope. This indicates lava is still flowing through the system from Pu'u 'Ō'ō crater. Residents in the lava flow path have been advised of possible evacuation. Access to Pahoa Village Road, between Apaa Street and the Post Office Road, is limited to residents only. Highway 130 remains open, but may be closed as lava approaches. Residents of Pāhoa village heard methane explosions.

Lava from Kilauea volcano has flowed across Apa'a Street and passed through Pahoa cemetery. Houses and a school are at risk of destruction in the next few days.
