Tao-Rusyr volcano is located on the southern end of Onekotan Island, in the northern Kuriles. The volcanic caldera is filled by 7-km-wide Kal'tsevoe lake. The scenery is some of the most beautiful in the Kurile Islands. A lava dome was formed in the 1952 eruptions.
