Mugogo volcano is located in the Democratic Republic of Congo, 11 km north of the summit of Visoke volcano. The volcano consists of a pyroclastic cone which was formed in the 1957 eruption.

1957 Eruption
Mugogo volcano erupted on 1st August 1957. No previous eruptions were recorded at the volcano. The eruption was accompanied by numerous earthquakes. Eruptions lasted for 42 hours and created a 40 m high cone, and produced a 1 km long lava flow.

Mugogo was the first volcano identified to erupt ankaratrite lava.
