Lvinaya Past volcano forms a 7 x 9 km wide caldera on the SW end of Iturup Island. The caldera is open to the sea on the NW. The floor of the caldera is 550 m below sea level.
The last eruption of Lvinaya Past Volcano was about 9400 years ago forming one of the largest Holocene eruptions in the Kurile Islands.
