The volcano is a cone shaped and is located in the north of Young Island, Balleny Islands. The Balleny Islands are located off the coast of Victoria Land, Antarctica.
During the discovery of the island in 1939 by Balleny, there was smoke observed at Freeman Peak. This may have been fumaroles rather than an eruption.
