Tutupaca Volcano is located in southern Perú. Collapse of the northern edifice produced a debris avalanche that traveled 7 km to the north.

The volcano contains twin peaks (the Western and Eastern Tutupaca). The summit has uneven topography and alteration from hydrothermal activity.

Eastern Tutupaca peak (5790 m) is the toungest of the two peaks and contains 7 lava domes and is cut by a 1 km wide amphitheatre.
