Lake Towada is Japan's largest caldera lake.
The lake is 400 m above sea level and the rim reaches 1000 m.
A second caldera at the volcano is 2 km wide (Nakanoumi).

Lake Towada is located in Towada-Hachimantai National Park,
which occupies a mountainous area on the border between the two Prefectures, Aomori and Akita.
