Takuan volcano is located in the South East of Bougainville Island in the Crown Prince Ranges. The Takuan volcano group consists of three closely spaced stratovolcanoes and two small domes, aligned north-west. All three volcanoes are
covered by dense forest.
The two small domes are located km north-west, and 22 km ESE of Mount Takuan.
The summit of Takuan has been eroded and consists of a semi-circular ridge, 0.9 km in diameter.
