Ragang volcano is located about 40 km SE of Marawi city. The volcano is part of Central Mindanao Arc.

Ragang volcano has produced frequent explosive eruptions since the late 1700's. In the local Moro community the volcano is known as “the mountain where smoke or fire rises".
