summit elevation 180 m
Stratovolcano

Penguin Island is located 130 km off the northern tip of the Antarctic peninsula. It is on the south side of King George Island.

Penguin Island measures 1.7 x 1.4 km in diameter. Central cone in the south of the island is the summit at 180 m. Petrel crater is located on the eastern side of the island. West crater is breached to the sea on the western side of the island.

The morphology of the island and unconsolidated nature of the
pyroclastic deposits suggest that Penguin Island was active in historical
times.
