Shield volcano
Payśn Matru Volcano is located in western Argentina. It consists of an 8 x 10 km wide caldera. Post-caldera basaltic eruptions produced over 300 eruptive centers, mostly along E-W-trending fissures that extend across the volcano.
Payún Matru volcanic field volcanic field covers 5200 sq km and contains eruptive vents and lava flows.
