Stratovolcano

Myoko Volcano is located north of Nagano City. It contains a 3-km-wide caldera. Solfatara activity is present at the volcano.

The Myoko volcano group, consists of five stratovolcanoes, Myoko, Kurohime, Iizuna, Yakeyama and Madarao.

Myoko volcano group is considered a poly-generation volcano, where in each time span activity is nearly constant, 20-50 kyr.
