Caldera

Makura is a little known volcano in central Vanuatu. The volcano contains a caldera which is located approximately 25 km South of Epi Island. Only the northern (Emae Island) and southern (Mataso Island) rims remain. The island of Makura is the peak of the central cone. The summit is Maunga Lasi on Emae.

A magnitude 4.5 earthqukae occurred under Emae Island on 20th July 2013.
