Likuranga Volcano is located in west new Britian island, next to ulawun volcano.
2006 Fatality
In 2006 a fatal release of carbon dioxide gas killed a boy who was playing in a hole dug by a logging company. The cause of the elevated carbon dioxide concentrations in the hole have not been determined. It is not clear whether the source is rotting vegetation or volcanic activity.
