Lava is a general term for molten rock poured out on the earth's surface by volcanoes.
Volcanoes produce 3 products; Tephra, Lava and Gases.
Lava flows take on a number of different forms:
Aa lava
Blocky lava
Pahoehoe lava
Toothpaste lava
Lava acts as a Newtonian fluid when it is very hot, or has a low silica content. As lava cools it starts behaving as a non-Newtonian fluid, and has Bingham fluid properties.
