Lava dome
Gollu Dag volcano is located in central Turkey, 32 km NNW of Nigde a town of 80,000 people. The volcano contains cinder cones and lava domes. Hot springs are present in the Sahin Kalesi complex.
The chronological picture for obsidians from Central Anatolia can be summarized as follows. During the first phase, Gollu Dagi area activity began in Pleistocene
times and ended 1 million years ago. During the second phase, Acig area activity began 180,000 years ago and continued up to recent times.
