Benbow Crater, Ambrym Island - John Seach

Benbow is an impressive 2 km wide crater on Ambrym volcano. Benbow is the site of the most dangerous eruptions on Ambrym.
The crater is notable for the long active lava lakes which are regularly found in the crater. Climbing the rim of Benbow crater is one of the great experiences in the south pacific.
Reaching the crater's edge involves climbing along a knife-edge ridge.
Once on the rim of Benbow there are majestic views of the ash plain as well as into the huge crater.
