Bauhinia Volcano is located 300 km west of Bundaberg, Queensland. The volcano covers an area of 500 sq km. The Expedition Range contains seven lava flows and a 310 m thick tuffs at Mt Nicholson. A volcanic vent is located in the eastern part of the volcanic province at Stonecroft Homestead.

Some of the most recent eruptions occurred 23 million years ago 3 km SW of Bauhinia Downs.
