Cerro Auquihuato Volcano is located in southern Perú, east of Río Ocona. Satellite images show a young lava flow extending 9 km south of the volcano. The cone rises about 380 m above the surrounding land, and the summit is elongated 1 km in a NW-SE direction.

The volcano is located on a plateau 6 km west of of Chunchuccasa in Ayacucho Region. Chigchipampa is located on the western side of the lava flow.
