Shield volcano
Los Atlixcos Volcano is located on the Gulf of Mexico coast. The volcano consists of a shield volcano with two summit pyroclastic cones.
Both pyroclastic cones, known as Cerro los Atlixcos, lie along an E-W line about 2 km apart; both cones are breached to the east. Basaltic lava flows extend to the north and east, reaching the coast.
