The 20 islands are inhabited by 600 Polynesians.

The main village is located on a small triangular shaped island in the east of the atoll.
The largest island is 2 km x 1 km.
The islands are at risk of going underwater due to sea level rise.
The highest point is only a 1 m above sea level.
