 Shield Volcano - John Seach

Shield volcanoes produce the most spectacular eruptions of all.
Paroxysmal lava fountains and lava flows are the most impressive of all eruptions.
Shield volcanoes are relatively broad and built up from lava, with summit slopes less than 10 deg, and bases less than 2 deg.
Little fragmental material is present.
