The House of the Tragic Poet is a
small house characteristic of the Pompeian middle class.
It is one of the most famous houses
of Pompeii containing frescoes of heroic and mythological topics.
The house was described in a book
called "The last days of Pompeii".
There is a well known mosaic at the
entrance which represents a dog tied with a chain.
