Steep Shield Volcano
Pelican Butte is a steep-sided andesite
shield volcano which has been eroded by glacial action.
The volcano's original shape has
been mainly preserved.
The volcano has a volume of 20 cubic
km making it one of the larger volcanoes between Crater Lake and Mt Shasta.
