The Nene is Hawaii's state bird. It
is believed to have descended from Canadian geese.
The numbers of Nene dropped to 30
at one time but are now recovering to a few hundred.
The greatest danger to the Nene is
motor vehicles in the National Park.
The Nene lives on Kilauea volcano
in a variety of habitats
