Mass Eruption Rate - John Seach

The mass eruption rate describes the eruption intensity of a volcano. The eruption rate is determined by the eruption column height and length of lava flows. In large eruptions it is possible for millions of tons of lava to be emitted every second.
Mass eruption rates cover three orders of magnitude up to millions of tons per second. The mass eruption rate of a volcanic eruption is determined by the driving pressure, conduit geometry, and flow rate.
